Judo for safer falling has been propelled by the "International Conference on Safe Falling for the Elderly through Judo" hosted by Tokai University in Japan organised together with University of Hertfordshire, Tokai University and the International Judo Federation Academy.
A total of 42 delegates attended from 14 national federations including the likes of Australia, Azerbaijan, Canada, Croatia, Belgium, Japan, Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and USA.
University of Hertfordshire's own Professor of Judo Education, Mike Callan, was very satisfied with the outcome of the theoretical and practical sharing on the first day. The second day, the focus was on smaller groups, with time to discuss and share "lessons to learn".
A free online webinar will be taking place on Tuesday 30th January 10:00-11:30 'Rising to falls with Judo' and will cover the theory behind the falling techniques and share the details of the first ever coach education training taking place in HSPs Coach Education Week in February 2024.
